This book is a result of an intense documentation study carried out on site spanning two years–from 2002 to 2004—with the intention of preparing an inventory of the built heritage of Champaner-Pavagadh. This book provides an architectural description of the structures placing them into distinct typologies based on their present state of identification—archaeological excavation, archaeological site, architectural fragments and ruins, structures above ground, structures below ground, and water bodies. These categories are based on those given in the 1987 Champaner-Pavagadh Draft Action Plan. Each typology is further classified into structures based on their function which form individual chapters. Each chapter also contains a map showing the location of all the structures. The description is accompanied by detailed plans, elevations and images of each structure.
