2012-2015 | SONAL MITHAL

Acrylic on Canvas

These illustrations represent the elemental qualities of growth, decay, renewal, and recovery as textures. Techniques of layering and erasures have been applied to emulate those landscape processes. Some of the themes studied in this series are sedimentation, erosion, flow of magma, deposition as hardened igneous rocks, basalt formations, textures of ageing and revival seen in tree barks, and so on. Some illustrations are a study of relationship between two or more elementals—earth and fire, earth and water, earth and air. Studies of glacial formations, snow dunes, reveal the beauty in discord of tough topographies.
